Between this and BF3, I'm looking forward to a bit of a casual come back soon...
Soon as Earthquake repairs are finished.
Tribes Ascend looks 'interesting'... keen for a Tribes game, not sure how this will be until I get my hands on it, but it does have some promise.
what else is everyone playing these days?

BF3 is interesting, yet it doesnt run that great on my machine (have to run in 1024 res).
Currently playing League of Legends and some RIFT

Just back in the house and hankering to blow some sh#t up. I see NZAF is coming back for bf3! dunno how the missus would take that  I haven't really played LoL(downloaded but never really played), beta'd HoN and much preferred it's zoom level/graphics. T2 and SC2(add me solagar@paradise.net.nz iirc) are were I'm at atm. |

Hello Gents,
Its been a while. SO to bring yáll up to speed. I have been playing lots of BC2 and then had a good run at BF3 which is awesome!
Now onto Tribes Ascend. I am in the closed beta so will let you guys know how it goes. Apparently they are running a 3 hour pre beta test today around 12pm. Heading home for lunch to give it a go =) I'd love if we can get 3-4 peps into this game or BF3. I have a large contingent from work playing BF3 and who are going to give Trbies Ascend a shot.
I'll let yáll know how I get on today.

Played Tribes Ascend for about 45mins yesterday. Was good fun. It has a pretty good feel about it. Quite a bit of speed which can be generated much quicker and easier than in T1 or T2.
Overall I liked it but need to play some more to get a handle on it. Choice.

Well my copy of BF3 is in my bag, arrived here at work this morning. Though I probably won't get to play until the weekend. See how quickly it'll bring my old PC to it's knees..A few of my mates are into it, and we'll be playing soon!
Unfortunately I haven't been accepted into the TA beta, I am keen to see how Heavies roll these days...amongst other things.
Not sold on micro transactions and the inability to create load-outs on the fly... or the lack of skinning/customization.

Ok so played my second pre beta match today. Verdict... They have fecked up the physics since last time. There is now not enough vertical lift when using jet pack. It seems that energy pack runs out way too quickly as well which makes it hard to jet onto ledges etc. There is another pre beta match tomorrow morning. Hopefully they fix some of that shet over night as it was not all that enjoyable this time round.
The other thing is that you have to unlock classes. So at the moment I can only play 2 light classes. So Maj I cant comment on heavy as I dont have the ability to choose =(
Now on to BF3. Went home at lunch time and played for about 10 mins. Wow what a great game. I have a WK platoon going so if any of you wanna join search for 'The WK Clan' and send invite. As i mentioned before I am playing under st1bigworm. Send me friend request asap.

Sweet, trying to scope out a new rig this arvo... getting a tad antsy here wanting to play BF3. Knowing full well my dual core + 9800 combo aint gonna cut it!
Any recommendations on a great rig for the game without going loonytoons...
Thinking-
I7(3.4gig) cpu(have used amd for years now but hear itel's the better atm)
8gig of ram
SSHD for boot drive and games/apps
not sure on vid card really think it was a nVidia550 I was looking at earlier today
Main uses will be Video editing/Photoshop and gaming (SC2,BF3,TribesA etc...).

Currently not a fan of Origin!
Why the hell do you need to download and install so many bits and pieces with a new release,I'm sure most of it could've been thrown on the cd when it was printed... a couple of small updates would've been a lot nicer.
My comp didn't completely die when I tried the single player on min settings last night, but I was unable to get on any servers to test multi-player out, think I may need to config some port forwarding.

Hey maj,
Definitely go for the 560 over the 550. My mate at work has a 560 and it can play BF3 on high settings. Cant play them on Ultra though =p. The extra $$$ for the 560 is well worth it!
Rest of your spec is good. Im running an i7 and it kicks ass!
Yeah having to install another game centre ie origin is annoying but it actually does some cool stuff eg you can join a game as a 'party' with all your friends so that when you get in game you are in the same squad. Origin voice comms is also very good.
What is very very annoying at the moment is the constant server drop outs. Appears everyone is experiencing it in NZ/AU for some reason. At drop out you lose all your stats from last save! But yeah overall BF3 kicks some serious ass.

Wow, good to hear you guys getting into some BF3 action! as much as I would like to get into it, I cant really afford it not to mention the upgrade of my rig that would be required. plus time is somewhat tight for me at the moment, kids.. yay  |

hah, I understand lee. I don't have that much time myself, but I have this overwelming urge to blow stuff up from time to time...
It was hard living in a crummy motel for 7 weeks without the PC(no games at all), so I'm a tad antsy atm and playing some catchup, until the boss starts spitting tacks and demanding some attention at least :p

-Still undecided re Vid card, but budget may keep me at the 560.. as I'm not sure on my exsisting PSU/case.(Might drop into Hitmans shop tonight and see what he reckons.

Tribes Ascend beta is quite fun btw, jumped in early... plays well on my old 3800 withgf9800GTX. Will play alot better on new machine but totally playable atm.
The game holds promise, tho as with all renditions it is a little different and needs some tweaking.
More Thrust/air time will be good, and they will be removing speed cap this week hopefully.
